Do you have fond memories of the Tooth Fairy when you were a child? Do you recall your excitement as you tried to either fall asleep or fake it so that the fairy would come sooner? If you’re in the season of life where you get to become a tooth fairy to the children in your life, this can be a fun and exciting time. Truly, the only limits may be the limits you place on your creativity.
One way that the fairy come alive for your child is if the fairy leaves a letter, along with the token of payment. The letter might be to comment on the quality of the tooth, congratulate your child on this milestone or offer words of encouragement and advice on their dental hygiene habits.
You can find free printable borders online to decorate the letter. Or you could also use glitter, gluing most of it down and leaving some loose in the folds so that it falls like “fairy dust” when your child opens it. Can you just see your child’s eyes growing bigger and hear the squeals of delight as they find their reward and a personalized letter under the pillow? You might be able to convince your child to write back to the tooth fairy, or to keep a “tooth fairy journal” to let the fairy know what has happened to your child’s teeth since the fairy visited last. Doing this can open the door for you to have conversations about why brushing and flossing are important for your child’s health.
