Should You or Your Child Receive Dental Sealants?

Dental sealants are designed to cover the chewing surfaces of the back teeth to prevent harmful bacteria from accumulating in these areas. At Blue Hill Dental, we offer dental sealants for child and adult patients, as long as the patient is old enough to have received their adult molars. If you are considering dental sealants, we are pleased to provide an overview of how they interact with your oral health.

The process of placing dental sealants is simple. Dr. Hetal Rana and our team coat the chewing surfaces of your back teeth with liquid sealant, covering the natural tooth enamel to protect this area and make the teeth easier clean. We then use a light source to harden the sealant after it’s on the tooth to make it more durable and strengthen the tooth. Typically, dental sealants can give you 10 years of use before our dentist needs to provide repairs or replacement.

Children with new adult molars often experience the best possible results with dental sealants and can even experience a lessened risk of cavities that is about three times lower than children who don’t have dental sealants.

Contact Blue Hill Dental at 916-774-4499 today to learn more about dental sealants in Roseville, California, and schedule your consultation with our friendly dentist and team.
